The Great Urban Race – Chili Pepper was a secret location in the Great Urban Race. The final round or elite 8 had to decipher a puzzle to find the boat, then tie a bowline with a blindfold. Easy if you are a sailor, not so easy otherwise. Two teams did it in seconds (sailor and firefighter), most teams completed with partner instruction, and one team could not finish the task.
Season officially kicked off today with a morning and sunset sail. Passing showers here and there, but how great to be out sailing.
Back in the racing days, Uncle Sam had a pretty solid reputation for winning. I walked into Custom Sail and Canvas in Red Hook and saw pictures of Uncle Sam in action. Sam, the previous owner, was pretty intent on winning and pushed the boat hard. As everyone has said, she loves wind and chop and really moves.
Sail Old San Juan will be open Friday November 15th for the season. The boat is looking better than ever, the weather looks to be perfect, please join us for a wonderful sail.
If you want a little information regarding sailing in Puerto Rico, check out www.Sail-PuertoRico.com
There should be some nice useful information soon on what it’s like sailing around Puerto Rico, nice places to go, and so on. Anyone can add info there, just send it to the webmaster.
Looking forward to a great sailing season in the Caribbean. Leaving St Thomas early part of November for Puerto Rico.
Adventure sails when the wind is up. On occasion the wind gets really good in San Juan Bay during the afternoon, which makes for a fast, fun sail. Evening sails are relaxed in comparison.
